Chief's Message

On behalf of the men and women of the Southwestern Regional Police Department, I want to thank you for visiting the official department web site.  The purpose of our site is for you to be able to gain worthwhile information about police services in your community, to learn how to access us for any reason, and for you to better get to know who we are. We believe that the more a community knows about their municipalities’ most important service, policing, the better you will feel about your community.

The Southwestern Regional Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency. On July 1, 2002, we began serving residents in Heidelberg Township, North Codorus Township and Manheim Township. As of April 1, 2003, the department started providing service to Spring Grove Borough. The department patrols an area that is located in the south west corner of York County Pennsylvania and covers 70 square miles. Our jurisdiction encompasses an area from south of York City to the Maryland State line. The department serves over 18,000 residents.

We are firm believers in the regional policing concept in our area. Regionalization has allowed for us to provide professional and effective police services to our communities at a very reasonable cost to our taxpayers. Costs for these services are evenly and fairly distributed to our member municipalities, based on the amount of service-time that they receive.

We have 16 employees and five (5) civilian volunteers. Fourteen of our employees are full-time police officers. Two of our civilian volunteers are Police Chaplains and are available for a wide variety of concerns or needs. We operate in a state-of-the art police facility that was completed in 2003, located at 6115 Thoman Dr, Spring Grove, PA 17362, Heidelberg Township. Officers are working around the clock but the administrative offices are open Monday-Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. (See Contact Us for further information on contacting us)

This web site was remade in 2012 and was possible through the receipt of donated funds.  No expense was incurred to our member municipalities.  For that, we want to say thanks to those that provided the funding for this site.  They included:  John & Patricia Warehime, Paul Miller Trucking, W.H. Cooke & Co., Exchange Club of Hanover, Kinsley Construction, Loyal Order of Moose, Stock & Leader Attorneys, F&S Yamaha & Marine, Legacy Athletic, and for his assistance in this project, web designer Joe Drahusz of BIG (Business Information Group of York).
